Personal Trainer James Wong on the Importance of Discipline

Through training at Two Percent Fitness Training Club and his personal Instagram account, James Wong inspires people to lead healthier lifestyles and be the best version of themselves.

Dedicating his life to fitness and training, James Wong has spent over a decade helping people on their fitness journeys. Whether he is hitting the gym or staying in a five-star hotel, James always puts fitness first and shows us the importance of dedication.

Could you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got into the fitness industry? 

After seeing a lack of fitness awareness in today’s society I decided to apply and learn to be a personal trainer back in 2012. When I first started my main priority was to help people achieve their fitness goals, and from there it grew into the wonderful community and clients I have today. 

How has fitness/exercise helped you overcome a challenge in your life? 

Since starting my own fitness journey, I’ve found that my confidence and sense of awareness have increased over the years. I’m constantly striving to be the best version of myself and that inspires me every day. 

What does a healthy lifestyle mean to you? 

A healthy lifestyle is a sustainable lifestyle. I don’t believe in fad diets or short-term satisfaction when it comes to health and fitness. I believe the best results come with longevity and healthy habits that people can maintain throughout their life.

How do you motivate yourself on days when you’re not feeling up to exercising? 

I rarely use motivation to keep me going, to me, it’s all about discipline. I make sure I show up and do my best every day. Motivation can come and go depending on a range of circumstances, but discipline will always take you farther than motivation ever will.

What is some advice you'd give to a client wanting to start their fitness journey? 

The most important thing to do when starting a fitness journey is to make a plan and follow it. It doesn’t need to be a complicated plan, it can be as simple as doing a 20 minute walk three times a day and from there it can grow, but you need that initial goal to get you started.
